When Swedish design group Front was asked by Dutch Booo! Studio to create a pendant light for Milan Design week 2012, they came up with this amazing bubble blowing lamp. The Surface Tension lamp, as it is called, has no bulb in the traditional sense, but instead it spews a chain of bubbles that catches the light and reflects the room before bursting. Replacing a bulb with bubbles, that’s definitely innovative. ‘We wanted to create a constantly changing lamp that combines the most ephemeral of lampshades with a LED light source that will last for 50,000 hours. By the time the LED burns out, the lamp will have had 3 million different ‘shades’, say the designers. Surface Tension Lamp Booo
